Hempstead NY Garage Fire 5/1/24

In the early morning hours of Wed., May 1st, 2024, the Hempstead Fire Dept. along with an engine from West Hempstead operated on the scene of a detached garage fire on Vermont Ave. Firefighters put one hand line into operation off Hempstead Engine 2 and had the main body of fire quickly knocked down. There were no exposure issues or injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire dept. units were under the command of Hempstead Chief of Dept. Rugg.
