RUN OVER BY TENDER 9TH AVENUE & W. 52ND STREET
While the tender of Engine 23 was proceeding to this fire,
and when at 9th Avenue and 52nd Street the strap of the nigh side of the harness broke, causing the horse to turn to the right and the tender to strike a column of the elevated railroad. The force of which threw Fireman Patrick Clark, who was driving, to the pavement. The tender wheel passed over Clark’s abdomen and he sustained the following injuries, lacerated wound of the testicles
and serve contusions of the body. Clark was taken to his residence by ambulance, After Clark arrived at his home his testicles were amputated.
