On Thursday, December 29th at approximately 11:40p, the Lynbrook Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial automatic alarm on Merrick Rd. 3rd Assistant Chief Murphy [429-3] was quickly the road and advised by Firecom a passerby was reporting smoke from the building. Upon arrival, smoke was confirmed from the building with an odor of burning and after investigation, a Signal 10 was transmitted with active fire inside the garage area of the warehouse. Engine 421 was first due and stretched the initial line into the building to begin extinguishing the fire. At least 2 lines were stretched to extinguish the fire which was isolated to the engine compartment of a truck in the building. Crews including mutual aid from East Rockaway, Rockville Centre, Malverne, Valley Stream and Elmont worked for approximately 45 minutes to extinguish the fire & ventilate the building before the scene was placed under control. All operations were under the direction of Chief of Department Kelly [429]. Text courtesy Over the Edge Photography.
