“At about 11 this morning we received an alarm for smoke and fire at 843 Freeman Street. Units arrived in approximately four minutes and found heavy fire throughout the building, a three-story private dwelling. Units had a tough interior attack and due to structural stability concerns and the volume of fire, we had to pull units out of the building. We reverted to an exterior attack which included hand-lines and a tower ladder. Units did a great job keeping the fire out of both exposure buildings, on both the left and right side. We had approximately 135 Fire and EMS personnel respond with 25 units. FDNY Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the fire and we had one minor burn injury to a Firefighter,” said FDNY Deputy Assistant Chief John Sarrocco from the scene of today’s 3 -alarm fire at 843 Freeman Street in the Bronx."
