Im not sure if it qualifies but I saw over the weekend that the village of Larchmont in Westchester got loaned out a reserve FDNY tower ladder to stand in for their department rig thats down for repairs. I'll see if I can dig up a pic. Not sure if that truck would count as being in the spare pool since its active elsewhere, but it clearly was not in active department use prior to the loan.

Anybody know the explanation for why the department completely stopped providing new rigs with Pa300's after 2004? From what I remember being told it was because companies started installing mechanical sirens in-house but they issue was they drew to much power so they began to use the EQ2B as a supplement. Anyone heard of plans or discussions of brining it back or a reason behind why they stopped getting them to begin with? Over the years i've noticed a handful of companies keep the Pa300 on the new rigs they would get.

When a rig is loaned out does it ever go back into FDNY use or is it one there ready to retire?
It does go back into the spare fleet, SL02003 was being used by Mt. Vernon for a decent amount of time as a loner and I caught it the following year being used as a spare by Ladder 24.
