With regret, the Department announces the death of retired Firefighter Michael T. Costa, E-328, appointed
September 14, 1987, retired October 1, 2004, which occurred on June 3, 2023. This member bravely served this
Department protecting life and property in the City of New York in the rescue and recovery at Manhattan Box
5-5-8087 World Trade Center.
The heartfelt sympathy of the entire Department is extended to the family, relatives, and friends of the
deceased in the midst of the great loss that they and the Department have sustained.
Funeral will take place from Hillebrand Funeral Home, 1238 Cross Bay Blvd., Broad Channel, NY, on
Wednesday, June 7, 2023, followed by a Mass at 1030 hours at St. Virgilius Roman Catholic Church, 16 Noel Rd.,
Broad Channel, NY. All off-duty members and their families are invited to attend. Members are requested to
attend in dress uniform.
