When my class went through the PFD Academy in late 1972 we spent a week at the Navy Damage Control School at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. We used chemox (Navy called them OBA) on several evolutions. Complicated devices but they were longer duration than the Air Paks of the era.
This used to be a 9th Battalion box when they were at Engine 19. A couple of years ago when PFD brought the 3rd Division back they put them in Engine 19 and moved the 9th Battalion to Engine 12 in Manayunk. With the move the 9th lost a lot of their fire duty.
Yes, the Pipeline designation went away after all engine companies had been assigned 5" LDH. Squrts and Water Towers did not use to be equipped with LDH.
