    Ponder this....

As you all know brand names and logos that have been in use for decades, years and maybe more are being removed as they are deemed disparaging. Certain words are facing the same demise. The most recent one is "Master" as in "Master Suite, Master Bath, "Gravy Master" and so on. My question is...

    5/19/2020 Box 9611

I believe there was a 10-75 around noon today at Box 9611. I didn't catch any info but I heard E301 relocating to E294 and 140 truck relocating to L143. Sorry, I have no further.

    Exit Numbers

Perhaps the FDNY dispatchers on this site would be able to shed some light on this question. I have been out of the main loop, so to speak, for a good while and I notice that highway runs are now dispatched over the air with exit numbers rather than street locations. For example, 'Grand Central...

    Crown

My wife and I were driving on Pa. Rte. 100 this afternoon, a two lane road, when what do I see but a Crown open cab pumper coming northbound. I haven't seen one of those rigs since Roy and Johnny left Station 51, in repeats anyway. There was only one man on the rig and in the brief moment I had...

    EMT's Rundown

According to channel 7, ABC-New York, 2 FDNY EMT's were rundown by their ambulance as it was being stolen in the Soundview section of the Bronx. Through another source, unconfirmed, bot members were transported to Jacobi Hospital in traumatic arrest. My prayers are with them.

    Sutphen

I saw a bit on the local TV news last night regarding Sutphen Apparatus. They have opened "Sutphen East" in Wayne County, Pa. on state route 191 just north of I-84. It was reported that chassis will be brought to this facility from their Ohio plant and custom apparatus will be finished here in...

    Queens 10-75

Anything on a 10-75 at 174-02 Horace Harding Expwy. at a gas station? That would be practically behind 299/152 quarters. I don't have any audio at the moment on my computer.

    An Oldie, But A Goodie

No I'm not referring to a record, however I just heard the Queens dispatcher give the time and then the infamous "KEB 526, Queens Radio, Dispatcher xxx." How long has it been since that was broadcast faithfully at the top of the hour?

    Sutphen

I didn't get all the details on the 5:00 PM news, however, Sutphen Fire Apparatus is going into to a new building within a new industrial park located just off I-84 in Wayne County, Pennsylvania sometime soon. They are closing their former plant in upstate N.Y. at that time.

    Scranton, Pa.

Scranton has a multi-alarm job going on Wyoming Ave. at the Sandone Tire Warehouse. Portions of the building collapsed and it's estimated that it will be a day or two for final extinguishment and overhaul.

    Staten Island Radio

I listen to Staten Island "on-line" as I'm in Pa. The reception is terrible, transmissions breaking up, only hearing a few words here and there, etc. I cannot speak for those listening on scanners, etc. but is there I can do on my end to improve the quality or is it like this all over?

    Frame Place, Flushing

Hi folks, Here's a stretch on memories. Does anyone recall a job that occurred in Flushing, Queens around Frame Place and Sanford Avenue in the late 50's or early 60's? I know it was the dead of winter, went to a "boro-call" and destroyed several blocks of buildings. I tried on-line to find...

    Ladder 154

At approximately 10:30 hours, this date, Ladder 154 reported via radio that they were out of service for mechanical problems with their spare rig and were returning to quarters. A few moments later it was reported via radio that the rig was on fire at Northern Blvd. & 89 street. E307 & L136 with...

    Kitchen Crashers

Last night on the "DIY" channel, Kitchen Crashers redid the kitchen of Chicago's E35, Truck xx and Ambulance 81. Of course they did an excellent job. The only thing that confused me was the host had the members making Christmas decorations and talked about the holidays. However, the apparatus...

    Open Cab Rigs

Were the 1954 Mack 1000 gpm pumpers, all assigned to Manhattan companies, the last of the open cab pumpers? I would think that the next batch in 1958 were all closed cab CF models. As for truck companies I think the early 60's Macks, ALF's and Seagraves were the last open cabs. Anybody know...
