0208  hrs Mobile Command reports  Secondaries are still underway & orders 1 DC..1 BC & 2 ENGs & 2 LADs for relief.
 
A Sad day for the Borough and a Sad day for the city. These Families just celebrated Christmas now the New Year without them. Keep them and The Firefighters in your Prayers. 
 
Looking at the first and second alarm assignments there must have been other things going on

If I recall it should be E88 48 45 75 L38 56 58F
                                E79 46 42 90 L37 27

It looks like it was E88 46 75 90 L38 55/56 27F
                          E82 43 50 48 L58 33

My condolences go out to all the families involved but lets also remember and keep close to our hearts the brothers and sisters first responders, FD, EMS and PD, whoever was on the scene, who had to respond and deal with such an event.  To respond and to put your heart and best effort into trying to do the best job you can and to have this output is heart wrenching.  Keep an eye on your coworkers.  From my experience it takes a toll and is not an easy thing to deal with.

If the door had been closed when they exited the fire apartment, probably would have been a different story...... cannot be emphasized enough.....close the door.
 
aren't all nyc apt doors supposed to be self closing by nyc housing law code? 
something can fall in gront of door and block it of course but it seems to happen way to manybtines that these doors stay open on their own

That honor is reserved for military / uniform personnel.
I wonder if any of the deceased were active military on holiday leave or Vets.

Then their should be a special Mayoral Proclaiming an official day of morning.

And Whitney Houston.?

There was a 28 year old Army member home for the holidays who perished in this fire last night. RIP
