There was a report of a fully involved structure fire in the Wequetequock section of Stonington; the Wequetequock FD was dispatched with a possible address of 53 Stanton Road, off Route 1. Upon arrival, units found a large two story wood frame garage fully involved in fire. The IC immediately asked for a tanker out of North Stonington as there were no hydrants in the area. He also requested one engine and manpower out of the Stonington Borough FD. A while later, an engine and manpower were requested from Pawcatuck FD. Two additional tankers were requested: Quiambaug and Center Groton responded. The fire extended to a 22 foot boat stored on a trailer in front of the garage and into the main house on the property. Firefighters operated on the garage from the exterior while making a strong interior push to limit the fire inside the house. There was fire on both the first and second floors of the hguse. Tankers shuttled water to the scene as Fire Police controlled traffic on the dead end street so that tankers were staged away from the scene. No injuries were reported. The garage was destroyed as well as the boat; the house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.
