The box number was actually 2921 for Weeks Avenue at East 174th Street. The fire was around the corner on Eastburn Avenue. 6 Story multiple dwelling, fire on the third floor, Apt C1. Actual rundown:

42 46 92 75 27 44 33F R3 S61 BN 17 BN 19 on 10-75 by E42.
Xtr e/t  50/19 RAC 3 on All Hands
L51 to L44; probably other relocations as well.

Fire originally reported on the third floor, later changed to 4th floor. Apt C1 would indicate the third floor. When I was a kid the ground floor apartments were not considered to be the first story of the building.  The first story was at the top of the first flight of stairs where the number pattern began ( I.e., Apt C1, 3G, ect). Five floors above the ground floor was a 5 story building (usually a walkup). Six floors above the ground floor was a six story (always an elevator building). This incident would have been considered on the third floor of a 5 story building. This was important back then as aerial ladders came in 65', 75', or 85' length able to reach 4, 5, or 6 Story roofs, respectively.

E 42 never hurts for work.  Looks like a noted fire photog is starting the second line.

Buildings like this were constructed in the 1920's.

By modern standards they are non fire proof. Amazing what the FDNY firefighters can do. In the town of East Cupcake, state of North Overshoe, the whole building is gone. The ultimate professionals.

Notice L27 's 85' aerial is almost fully extended.  Could go to the roof of a six story elevator building.
A 75' would be at its limit at this five stories.
