Battalion 5 organized

Around July of 2017 Va. Beach will officially place the 5th Battalion in service. The last time a new Battalion had been organized was around 1986. In about 2 years or so Engine 22 will be organized and placed in service at a new firehouse.

Battalion 1 and Battalion 2 were organized in 1972,
Battalion 3 - 1978
Battalion 4 - 1984

Engine 22 was shown on some rosters circa 2003 at 19's and 21's.  Apparently temporary or just proposed at the time.

Good news and very appropriate.  VB is a very good and very busy department.

Engine 22 was originally placed in the CIP budget in 1989. It got delayed after the early 90's recession and then fell off the radar screen. Hopefully it will be a reality in about 2 years
