Today is the 9th anniversary of the April 15, 2013 Boston Marathon. RIP those killed by the two terrorists. Continued prayers and support for those who were seriously injured for life. Thank you to all first responders who saved many lives following that heinous attack.

Gov. Charlie Baker and Wu laid wreaths at the sites of the bombings on Boylston Street, and observed a moment of silence for the victims. Three people died that day: Martin Richard, Lingzi Lu, and Krystle Campbell, while Officer Sean Collier and Officer Dennis Simmonds died in the aftermath of the event. Over two hundred others were injured in the attack, and 17 people lost limbs.

Since 2015, the city has worked to rebrand the somber anniversary as “One Boston Day,” “an opportunity to celebrate the resiliency, generosity, and strength demonstrated by the people of Boston and those around the world in response to the tragedy of April 15th, 2013,” the event website states. Recommendations to commemorate the day include calling an older Bostonian in the neighborhood and donating blood with the Red Cross.

Boston City Hall evacuated for bomb threat on anniversary of Marathon bombing​

The threat was phoned in around 3 p.m., and cops gave the all clear at 5:20 p.m.​

Police evacuated Boston City Hall Friday afternoon after receiving a bomb threat just moments after a moment of silence was held to mark the ninth anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings.

City Hall got the phoned-in bomb threat around 3 p.m., and police evacuated the building out of an abundance of caution, NECN reported.

A spokesperson for City Hall confirmed to Boston.com that the building had been evacuated, but did not disclose details on who received the phone call or what was said.

Investigators swept the building and determined there was no legitimate threat; they gave the all-clear around 5:20 p.m.

The bomb threat came about 10 minutes after the city held a moment of silence commemorating the victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, which killed three people and injured hundreds of others at the race’s finish line.

The 2022 marathon is set to happen on Monday, April 18.

Notes:

- Initial request for BFD Fire Alarm to strike the box was from a BFD FF on foot patrol. There was immediate difficulty determining location because 2 devices were detonated and a mass of spectators close to the finish line.
- Initial BFD Incident Commander (District Chief 4) and Boston Fire Alarm did not know there were 2 explosions.
- First due companies E 33/L 15 with Hazmat 1 saw explosions from their firehouse and responded before box was struck. They were already working on victims at the secondary device location when requested by IC at finish line location (heard on tape).
- Responding members in video were still putting their bunker gear on - they believed a device had exploded in a Boylston Street building and they might have a structure fire.
- Reports of suspected secondary devices from BPD received during Marathon operations.
- South Boston JFK working fire in progress during Marathon operations.
