Brian Williams talks of his volunteer firefighter days in New Jersey.

I've been told that after 9/11, Brian Williams did a story on one FDNY firehouse and how that TRAGIC Day affected those members. After he did that story, as I understand it, all the members of that firehouse, and their families were treated to a steak dinner at one of the finest restaurants in Manhattan, as his friends and guest.

The company Brian Williams did the story on post-9/11 was Rescue 4. I'm pretty sure the videos are up on youtube.

There might have been one or two other companies involved as well.

Brian and I were in the fire department and EMS together,we were in different fire houses that run 2nd due to each others runs. We were in the same house in EMS. He is a really good guy who still has a devotion to the fire service. When he is down this way he still stops by his company.  I believe he is an honorary chief in FDNY. He was a good firefighter, no worries when he was in a job with you.

Didn't he also have a short lived program called "Firehouse" that may have been cancelled? I remember one or two episodes and he was holding his helmet and talking about his experience. Anyone else remember that or know what happened?
