"Brown out" and "Russian Roulette" - terms used for cities which "temporarily" shut fire companies, usually rotational, usually 1 company in a double company firehouse, to hide reduced resources.

It works until it doesn't work.

In light of the reduced manning & the number of Units OOS .......for the safety of Civilians & Members there should be no playing catchup if it could be avoided ......what initially (had there been proper manning & a sufficient number of Units available ) would have called for a 10-75 now should call for a Second Alarm right away .....a former Second Alarm should now call for a Third Alarm etc, etc. right away.

Could members of the Rescue Squads Tacs Safety & Rescue Battalion (aides not chiefs) work a tour on an engine or ladder?

Take RB OOS in order to staff an E or T?

As long as the members working are Full Duty they can be Detailed to any unit.

Has there been any direction from UFOA or UFA about when and how a Company can safely respond, ie at what level of Manning are they not to operate. Trucks and Engine Companies with 3 members first due at working fire cannot operate within FDNY guidelines and procedures.

The number of companies will change because more firefighters are getting shots. So far it's up to 72%. I guess the AH wanta be king of New York City is getting his way

I think members should get the shot if they want to but NOT be forced to. I also think by members getting the shot by force is just giving into the Politicians and this means they see there demands were met so they will do this for other things. I also am NOT sure why no one is suing over this yet!

The general public will be more upset about the uncollected garbage piling up than a fire house being closed. If they start lighting up the piles of garbage it will look like the 60's and 70's.

As of today, the FDNY has 1,700 firefighters on unpaid leave. Some of the members that are on sick leave say that they took the vac shot, but have affects from the shot. As per channel 5 news.
