Last evening the East Rockaway FD was alerted for the report of a house fire on Garfield Ave. Chief Monaco arrived first on scene to find a fire on the exterior of the house that was beginning to spread.
First due Engine 406 "hit" the hydrant located directly in front of the building and one line was stretched to extinguish the fire. The crew from Ladder 403 performed overhaul and ensured there was no extension to the interior of the structure.
Responding from the Department were: Chief Monaco, Vesce, Gelb and Pignataro, Engine 406, Ladder 403, Engine 404, Engine 405, Ambulance 4081, and Command Post Unit 4091.
Mutual aid was received from Lakeview, Malverne, Hewlett and Rockville Centre.
