Fireman Driscoll suffered a fatal heart attack while driving a medical division car.
Fireman William J. Driscoll assigned to Headquarters Staff was driving the Medical Officer’s car for the Boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens. At 7:45 p.m. on January 28, 1941, he suffered a heart attack and collapsed. Medical Officer Costellos, whom he was driving, treated him but he died at 8:50 p.m. as a result of cardiac failure. He was appointed to the Department on July 1, 1913 and assigned to Engine 213. He transferred to Headquarters on May 1, 1939 and was assigned to the Medical Division.
