Paul Harvey's "Fire and Ice" tribute to firefighters is approximately 50 years old, and one of his most famous.



Paul Harvey (September 4, 1918 – February 28, 2009) was an American radio broadcaster for ABC News. He broadcast News and Comment on mornings and mid-days on weekdays and at noon on Saturdays and also his famous The Rest of the Story segments. From 1951 to 2008, his programs reached as many as 24 million people per week. Paul Harvey News was carried on 1,200 radio stations, on 400 American Forces Network stations, and in 300 newspapers. His father was a police officer killed in the line of duty by a bank robber. He was a highly acclaimed broadcaster and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. His "Fire and Ice" tribute to firefighters is one of his most famous broadcasts. He also dedicated broadcasts to police officers, farmers, everyday American workers and America. Most broadcasts and tributes are 40 or 50 years old.
