    6/22/25 Bronx 5th Alarm Box 3360

Not implying anything negative about anyone or any Borough. Being motivated was my stock answer for those who would question how we ended up someplace other than our area. Helped make the probing questions easier.

Out over 20 years !, I bet you could still recall the Bretylium dose in V fib. The Voluntary units were always welcome at anything I was at and I would never fault you for trying to first into the job regardless of who you were trying to beat or who you were working for. Just shows that you are...

No Knock taken.....Any Medic Unit can administer Cyanokit and sure you will see line medic units working in some interesting places, The difference is that the Rescue Medics are trained for, equipped and familiar with working in or in very close proximity to environments that line units are not...

Skyler, Thank you for helping me thread that needle. I was attempting to answer the question without resorting to specific detail. I appreciate your clearing things up for all of us. In the future I will remain in my lane. Thanks again.

The command post is usually although not always in located in a safe place where one can get a good overview of the situation at hand. In a very dynamic environment the location may change for safety and or operational reasons. Technology is changing a lot of things. Drones and other equipment...

NikFDNY : What are you basing this statement on? Personal experience, statistics or speculation ? (I've always seen Ambulances arrive either before or just after the CFR Engine)

    6/4/25 Brooklyn 3rd Alarm Box 787

Escalation or deescalating the EMS response based on the transmission of alarms by Fire Operations is not always as cut and dry as it might seem. The EMS MCI Matrix is used as a starting point and many times it is adjusted depending on conditions being reported via 911 or information from the...

    VINTAGE FDNY RIG PHOTOS.

Before EMS moved to Pennsylvania Avenue they were on Liberty Avenue. The Liberty Avenue site was Station 34 located next door to or in very close proximity to a Funeral Home. The address escapes me. After the move to Pennsylvania Avenue it remained Station 34 until the merger in 1996 when it was...

    New FDNY EMS transport policy

You see that’s what’s called middle ground ! I like it.

    New FDNY EMS transport policy

If I may ask, have you never accommodated a patients request for transportation to a hospital of their choice? Within reason of course, or have you always taken patients regardless of their request to the nearest and how is that best for your patient. I acknowledge and agree that other avenues...

    New FDNY EMS transport policy

Ahh yes, but we are highly trained and specialized transportation. I think you might just be right about the above someone’s pay grade part.

    New FDNY EMS transport policy

One would assume so. The redirection policy if it’s still in effect would automatically preclude additional transports to the busy place and direct units to a less busy place albeit further away. Now the diversion policy is a whole other discussion.

    New FDNY EMS transport policy

I agree that the system is absolutely abused. It is obvious the new policy is aimed at increasing ambulance availability and reducing response time. I also think policies that take discretion away from ambulance crews and field supervision are not always the best. There are patients who are not...

Is the FLY Car program still operating?

I don’t think anyone disagrees with you.

Is the FLY Car program still operating?

So the BLS is being assigned at the same time as or in very close proximity to the time the ALS Fly car is being assigned ? Are you guys waiting on transportation often ? I can recall that in the late 80’s and again in the mid 90’s we weren’t getting simultaneously dispatched with a BLS unit...
