New Squad and Mas Service Unit Orders

Don't know about the MSU, but the squads should hit the NJ dealer by the end of the year. They are being built now

Trying to figure out why 7 MSU Trucks. The 3 Big MSU Trucks have a lot of miles on them so sure they are being replaced. But can’t see 7 big trucks as Manhattan they use the Vans for easier navigation. The newest Van is a 2019 I believe. MSU can only fit 3-4 trucks inside the station

Replace current + spares. Could imagine they may also try to decentralize to either two points (or more) for the MSUs

I don’t think it’s 7 I looked at specs it’s for the big trucks probably only 3 have to read more
 
I wonder if they are going to try to give each Squad a front line and stocked spare like they do with the Rescue's.

Also - 2-year build time? Try 3-4 unless Seagrave is letting them cut the line.

Well the FDNY is a BIG contract that seagrave wont want to loose, so 2 years is pretty accurate when it comes to the FDNY
 
Does anybody know why they stick to 1000gpm pumps for the squads? Most of the rest of FDNY engines are now 2000gpm. Is there a space difference in a 1000gpm vs. 2000gpm pump that would allow the squad to have more compartment space?

Right now there is talks of 2-3 Reserve Squads. (2) at RDC and R6 will not be anymore
 
The discription in the bid document has the exact same compartment and hosebed layout as SQ 8.
 
i wonder why they don't order one more for sq 8 also why they are at it i mean by the time these have been delivered their rig will by comming up on the 7 year mark and they will always have one that is the odd one out since the rest are the same batch....
