This bid is probably for the next set of pumpers to be replaced after the current contract is fulfilled. It takes approx. 1-2 years from time of bid announcement to delivery of the first unit. Also there could possibly be some changes to the specifications not addressed in the current contract.
As per nyc.gov DCAS, Ferrera was awarded a contract to build high-water rescue vehicles. No number of vehicles specified, but the contract is about 1.5mil.
Saw Marine 6 yesterday cruisin underneath the Verrazano Bridge. It looks like a huge Coast Guard from the front, but then you see the FDNY markings as it turns to the side. Defeinitly doesn't look like a fireboat. Still a sharp looking boat though.
Why do scanners stay keyed on a borough frequency when there is no radio traffic being transmitted? Is there a way to set the squelch to eliminate this?
