Firefighter Salvatore Scarentino, assigned to Ladder Company 24‚ located at 142 West 31st Street‚ New York‚ NY. While working a night tour on March 20‚ 2009‚ followed by a day tour on March 21‚ he responded to one fire‚ nine emergencies‚ and one false alarm. Less than twelve hours prior to his death‚ Firefighter Scarentino‚ working at the outside vent position‚ performed his duties–vent‚ entry‚ and search-at an all-hands fire in Manhattan. Ladder Company 24 operated for approximately 40 minutes at this fire. He died on March 21‚ 2009‚ from acute cardiac failure.
