Fireman Grieco died as a result of injuries he sustained in the performance of duty.
Thursday, March 28, 1968: - SHRUB OAK - Charles J. Grieco, 43, of 29 Ivy Road, died of a heart attack Tuesday at Peekskill Community Hospital. Born in New York City, Dec. 14, 1924. Mr. Grieco was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was employed as a fireman in the New York City Fire Department for 16 years. Mr. Grieco was a resident of Shrub Oak for 10 years and formerly lived in the Bronx. He was a communicant of Blessed Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, a member of the Holy Name Society and a president of the Ivy Knolls Association. Mr. Grieco leaves his wife, Mary Burke Grieco of the home address; two sons, Robert C. and Donald E. and three daughters, Karen, Arlene and Jeanette, all of the home address; his parents, Michael and Bertha Fraundorf Grieco of Bricktown, N.J.; one brother, J? of Bricktown; and three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Zinza of Bricktown, Mrs. Virginia Evans of Atlanta, Ga. and Mrs. Frances Colluci of Ithaca. A requiem mass will be said at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at Blessed Elizabeth Ann Seton church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla.
