Fireman Kot died as a result of injuries he sustained while operating at Station 98, in Brooklyn.
Fireman William Kot of Engine 229 went home from the night tour for a forty-eight hour leave. At 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Kot called the firehouse to say that Fireman Kot was in a coma. Rescue 4 and an ambulance responded to his house and worked on him. He died around 11:35 a.m. of a heart attack. "The Last Alarm" by Boucher, Urbanowicz & Melahn, (2007)
