This morning, the East Rockaway Fire Department was alerted for a car on the LIRR tracks in the vicinity of the Centre Ave LIRR Station.
Chief Pignataro, Chief Monaco, Chief Vesce, Engine 404, Engine 405, Engine 406 and Ambulance 4081 responded to the scene to find a vehicle that had left the roadway, struck the 3rd rail, and caught fire. The fire was extinguished by the crew from Engine 405 and one patient was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Text & photos courtesy ERFD.
