"At 4:08 PM this afternoon the Long Beach Fire Department received a report of a swimmer in distress at Monroe Blvd. and the Beach, upon arrival Chief Ray confirmed a woman at the end of the jetties in distress.
Assistant Chief Reinhard upon arrival entered the water and began swimming out to the end of the jetties, Ex-Chief Jacobi and Firefighter Almonte also entered the water to assist, at the same time Captain Troy and LBPD Lieutenant Mike Corbett made their way to the end of the Jetties, they were able to remove the victim off the jetties to the safety of the beach.
The female patient was evaluated and transported to Mount Sinai South Nassau Emergency Department at Long Beach in stable condition.
This rescue is a true testament to Long Beach First Responders working together for a positive outcome .
All Operations were under the command of Chief Hadrick Ray."
