From Chicagoland Fireground Scanner FB post. 2-11 fire in a 2 story former restaurant at 5356 North Sheridan Road. Defensive ops with hand lines, a snorkel and a tower ladder.
My best friend joined the Navy in the late 1960's. While in Basic Training at Great Lakes one time he rode with the world famous Snorkel Squad 1 on North Orleans Street. They made a 3-11 in a commercial occupancy on the Southside. His most vivid memory was a half-foot of water flowing out the front door of the fire building.
As it turns out, there's a lot of water in Lake Michigan and the Chicago Fire Department has the means to pump a lot of it.
