Chester NY 2nd Alarm Condo Fire in Whispering Hills Complex, late afternoon. Three Dwelling unites destroyed 3 others heavily damaged.
Well, done Initial aggressive interior attack by Chester Firefighters attempted but was unsuccessful. Heavy fire vented through, causing siding of adjoining building to melt and crack window glass, in spite of a 15 ft. wide, driveway separating the buildings, had the window in the exposure failed the fire may well have spread to an additional building also containing 6 units. 2nd Alarm brought mutual aid and 2 Tower Ladders, an Aerial Ladder Pipe that were used, along with multiple handlines. A fire wall separating the building down the middle, at the location of the ridge pole, failed to completely protect extension within the cockloft and roof. 3 Unit destroyed, 3 units badly damaged and the roof mostly burned off.
