USA Today stated that the ship missed a turn and should not have been there. Would the ship have cleared the bridge?

Not in the configuration she was in. The bridge clearance is 127 i believe and the ships air draft is roughly 160. From the little info available, she was backing out of the pier after a refueling stop in her way to Greenland or Iceland. I forget which. She suffered a mechanical failure just after she cleared the pier, turned to head out to sea, and went straight to the bridge. In a different video you can see where she was turned and all of sudden started picking up speed in reverse. My swag is her engine got stuck in full reverse. I did see a video just before she hit the bridge where her lights appeared to flash briefly. But that was just before she hit.
