Austin Tx Fire Chief in hot water

I would NOT want any Fire Chiefs job these days.
Anything that goes wrong - "YOU OWN IT".

In my local area (fire was posted on this site by EMSR1) a mother and her daughter died due to a malfunction in the fire station alert system.
That Chief of Department is now the guy answering the question - "WHY".

From a old, retired firefighter/captain - "Keep me in the streets - not behind a desk".

Was it the Chief's sole decision or was the Chief following orders?

Bean counters telling the operators what they can't do. $800K sounds like a lot of money in reality it's not when comes to lives. If that Chief had the guts, he should have personally called the Governor and said we're on our way, by the way we need that $800K like yesterday.
