Please take a look at the fine articles about this fire by *Now Retired FDNY Deputy Chief Vincent Dunn. He describes how the collapse took place, and the search & rescue operations conducted to try to recover our brothers. My fiend the late Lt. Jim Curran FDNY Rescue 1 spoke about this fire and how Rescue 2 and Rescue 1 managed to find the lost brothers. A good search by great firefighters guided them to where our brothers were trapped, A breach of the Brick sidewall was a key factor that allowed the search to be expanded. If you do not know how to properly breach a brick wall, without causing a further collapse it is a skill you must get trained in. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired.
