This afternoon the East Rockaway Fire Department was alerted for the report of a house fire at the corner of Baisley Ave and Dart Street.
1st Assistant Chief Matt Pignataro arrived quickly to find a two story private residence with heavy fire showing from all floors of the structure and a working fire (Signal 10) was transmitted.
Engine 404 was the first arriving Engine who secured a water source and began extinguishing the blaze. Ladder 403, Engine 405, Engine 406, Heavy Rescue 407, Ambulance 408, and Ambulance 4081 all operated on scene.
Operations were hindered due to the advanced fire state which had compromised the flooring in the structure. 1 occupant was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, and 1 member was treated and released at the scene.
We were assisted at the scene by the Lynbrook Fire Department, Oceanside NY Fire Department, Rockville Centre Fire Department, Hewlett Fire Department and the Nassau County Police Department.
Thank you to Woodmere Vol. Fire Department, Island Park Volunteer Fire Department and the Lakeview Fire Department for standing by for additional alarms in the village during operations.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal - County of Nassau and NCPD Arson Bomb Squad.
