Wrong cornice. The one on the outside, roof level, exterior of building. Usually fire in top floor apartment out windows extends to cornice or from cockloft fire.

Jack, Very nice tribute to Dan. It always got to me, that all the fires he went to throughout his career, he perishes in a plane crash, probably burned to death, if I remember correctly. RIP.
