    Madison,WI New Hook & Ladder

All of my departments TDA's have duel axles on the tractor. Pierce and LTI/ALF. Works well. Surprised Seagrave doesn't offer it as an option.

Just curious, how is it possible that L-4 in midtown has 32 1st due all hands and the closest Harlem ladder company only has 13? Just seems odd to me, but what do I know........

    Aerials Over 100 Feet ??

E-One used to make a 135ft. aluminum rear mount, I think. 5 sections with the base section being super wide.

FDNY RIG Colors why does FDNY Not do the color scheme like this?

I personally think that the White cab roofs look great, unlike Chicago's Black over Red. The Large White block style numbers and the 3 stripes look awesome too.

I Just Wanna be a FIREMAN

Wow, that's good stuff. My firefighting career is kind of similar to your Fathers. My Father did work for the United Postal Service and my brother and I both became Firefighters. I was working on the local Township's road crew out of High school and I was a volunteer on their Fire Dept. I took a...

    Famous Folks/Fireman Fathers

Minnesota twins pitcher Allen Anderson is now a Captain on the Columbus, Ohio FD. We also had a visit from a baseball player, Bryce Harper, who he and his girlfriend, had lunch with us at Station-1 in the Downtown area.

    OUR FIREHOUSE STORIES

Why do firehouses seem to attract these mascot-type people? We had many over the years. Chief Bill, who was from a group home somewhere, really thought that he was a chief. We treated him great and offered him lunch every day AFTER we were done. This went on for years. There was even a video of...

    GLORY DAYS

I was in the 1982 class and I don't recall that name. The old BLS and ALS, squads and medics, was a good system at the time. I spent a lot of time on Squad 14 and 15. They changed in 1996 to a paramedic engine concept with a paramedic on all 34 engines and 2 person/paramedic transport units. The...

    GLORY DAYS

Great story! I never understood guys being late for duty. I had a perfect attendance record for my entire 36 year career. Came close a few times because of accidents, heavy traffic, etc. We worked the 3 platoon system, 24 on, 48 off, so you only had to be there once every 3 days, but we had guys...

    Tower Ladder 35

Wikipedia under ''Sutphen'' mentions the concept truck saying that the bucket doubled as the tiller cab. Never made it to production. No pics that I can find.

    Tower Ladder 35

The Sutphen corp. tried that many years ago with a one time prototype. It looked horrible! Never took off. I am going to Google search for any pics.

    Tower Ladder 35

My Dept. has several TDA's with duel axles on the tractor. Much better braking ability with duel tandems. Plus the compartment space and maneuverability is superior on a TDA.

    Tower Ladder 35

I would think about 5 ft longer. 4 section boom, 20 ft longer than a 75 footer.
