    THROWBACK THURSDAY

Yes, I recall all that you mentioned and my wife worked at "Mary Mac" as well. Mary, St. John's on QB and St. Joe's across the street from 315/125 are all just bygone memories now.

    THROWBACK THURSDAY

Such as my tube type tunable "Monitor Radio" from Lafayette which I received in 1962 and believe it or not still have. Now where to get tubes, mmm? Can't go to Cortlandt street anymore. P.S. Chief, remember Schildkraut Ford dealership right next door?

If I'm not mistaken, Cortland Street had numerous radio shops. I like that Buick parked alone on the street.

    UFA HISTORY.

There's no mention of the recall system back in the 40's and 50's. A member lived in the firehouse for days or weeks during major snow storms. Did I mention that they didn't get paid for the additional time?

Oh gee, NYC is a sanctuary city so that means one can do anything and everything with impunity I guess. What is it going to take to remove the handcuffs from the NYPD and let them start cleaning up this city? I wish I knew (legally that is ::)

Those slant 6 engines would run forever. The floorboards and outer body would fall off but that engine would run, run, run. Points, plugs, condenser and tweak the carb once in a while and all would be good.

    NYPD.

These miscreants know that they will not be in jail due to the likes of Mayor Bill, Chirlaine (or whatever her name is) who wants the Brooklyn Boro President's seat, the judges and all the other fake, phony liberal politicians. I bet that when all these so called liberal do-gooders terms are up...

It was "The Colonel Bogey March" from the movie 'Bridge Over The River Kwai'. Mitch Miller had the popular hit record with this song.

If I'm not mistaken, his dad was a Firefighter in Ladder 109 from the 30's to the 50's. Rest In Peace gentlemen and God Bless.

"Think of Rheingold whenever you buy beer" There was a Rheingold beer radio/television commercial that was adapted to the tune used in a late 50's movie. What was that movie??? C'mon now, you know it!

    Exit Numbers

Perhaps the FDNY dispatchers on this site would be able to shed some light on this question. I have been out of the main loop, so to speak, for a good while and I notice that highway runs are now dispatched over the air with exit numbers rather than street locations. For example, 'Grand Central...
