I hope the guys are all okay. Magnolia F D has a great bunch of firefighters and officers out there. They really stepped up for us (i.e. the Porter F D) when we lost a member LODD in 2003. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

Talk to and listen to the men that worked in Brownsville, East New York, South Bronx, Harlem, etc. The running was there and the work was there. Dropped and/or lost run tickets, JTO's edicts and the CO's being overwhelmed all contributed to a scenario where we don't know what the "true numbers"...

And 40 years ago we didn't wear bunker gear and didn't carry all the extra equipment that the troops do today. Tower ladders were still relatively new and we were still finding out what they could do and what advantages they presented.
