A department on the east side of Cleveland has one of those 137’ E-One’s. Crazy part is they don’t really have the high rise need for it, but they have it.
One of the causes passed along to us by our salesman was a lack of parts. They had a long long time supplier for their AC units who just up and closed their doors. They had to re-engineer a bunch of stuff just based on that.
Updated tonight to 1 fatality and 13 injured. I've driven by this building before(I live on the other side of Cleveland from where this happened) and it's a BIG building. Debris was thrown 200-300 yards by some reports, and I'm talking structural steel and bricks.
I’m roughly 100 miles NW of this incident. I don’t think the FM means they should have been using Class A suits for this. I think they’re speaking to the lack of information in the beginning of the incident and the overall lack of updated PPE. This department’s yearly budget probably wouldn’t...
Chief was cancer and both FF Childers and Calafatis were suicide from what I've heard from guys I know on the job down there. May they all rest in peace.
My department ran into issues when ordering an ambulance. We usually order Freightliner chassis, but we’re told 2-3 years lead time so we ended up with a Ford truck chassis. We were told April and in a strange turn of events it will be done this month. I’m not sure how that happened but we’re...
Busy day for CFD today. They also had a car into an apartment building with multiple entrapped during this and another working fire shortly after this.
I was down there about 2 summers ago and did a tour. They said, at least at that time, they kept both crawlers outside. We drove right by one. You really can’t grasp how big both the crawler and VAB are until you’re in the shadow of it. Enormous just doesn’t cover it.
All their gear is basically on base and packaged for C-17 transport since that’s what they fly at Wright-Patt. I could see Hillary doing this, but all the guys I know on the team would have gotten on after this timeframe for me to confirm.
I saw an article awhile back that stated they sent two of their medics out for remount right at the beginning of Covid and still hadn’t gotten them back due to supply chain issues. This was as of a couple of months ago I believe.
In all the videos and photos, I saw only 2 aerial streams working the fire. Without meaning to Monday morning quarterback, how come there wasn't more of an FD presence? Were there water supply problems?
I saw 4 or 5 on the 2 side in one video. They were less than effective as they were outside...
