If I recall correctly, the '55 FWD 75 foot wooden aerial rigs were bought from the Chicago FD as they didn't want them.

The gas cap on the Ward's was on top of the cabinet door on the chauffeurs side of the rig. A large funnel in the shape of a "Z" was used to add fuel. The unlucky member, usually the MPO, had to lift the 5 gallon gas can practically over his head to pour the fuel into the rig. A definite...

They certainly didn't send it to MAACO for a quick fix.

This past storm all EMS called in sick and went to work as "Emergency Shovelers" because it paid better.

I'm trying to remember but I think that was "Fireman Todd" on WPIX 11 with the fire Stooges and then it was "Officer Joe Bolton" after him. Maybe, maybe not. That was a while ago lol (Ray Heatherton was on WPIX but can't recall in what capacity.

Don't want to be a naysayer, but when a bus goes down because of personnel that'll be the end of the Aide. Been there, believe me. I remember when they gave all the conditions units a tow strap for a snowstorm in lieu of an Aide. Anyone else recall that?????
