This used to be a 9th Battalion box when they were at Engine 19. A couple of years ago when PFD brought the 3rd Division back they put them in Engine 19 and moved the 9th Battalion to Engine 12 in Manayunk. With the move the 9th lost a lot of their fire duty.
Yes, the Pipeline designation went away after all engine companies had been assigned 5" LDH. Squrts and Water Towers did not use to be equipped with LDH.
Bill and I both had places in the Seashore Line Campground outside of Sea Isle City, NJ in the late 1980s / early 1990s. He was working in the Safety Battalion at the time and I was a BC in the 8th Battalion in North Philly. Loved talking to him. RIP Bill!
Back when I retired from the job engine companies in Philadelphia responding on the second or greater alarm were required to use the hard suction when making their hydrant connection.
