    New Rescues ?

The bid distinctly stated tandem axle with front and rear winch ….the only vehicles in the FDNY fleet that fits that description are the 5 rescues . Hazmat , no winches. Collapse rigs , single axle and no winches. So the million dollar question is …why 9 rigs and not 10…..still .

The 28 Batt was added and still remains in Brooklyn but at lest half of its response area is in Queens , Ridgewood & Glendale. So yes , Queens did benefit from adding the extra Battlion in Brooklyn .

10/10/23 Brooklyn All Hands Box 0798

truckless triangle…..anyone of those trucks plus even TL-124 ( 4 due) have a response time under 4 mins to that box and any other area of the so called “truckless triangle “. There are trucks on SI & eastern Queens with first due boxes with response times in the 8+min area. It’s a very heavy...

    Gas Stoves

Why did they chose to use an abduction stove as opposed to a standard electrical stove. And what’s the cost difference between the two $$$.

    Relocations

The original reason they started to relocate a squad to a rescue was so the relocated squad WOULD NOT be used as anything other then for SOC calls and 10-75’s Whats sense does it make to relocate a squad to another squad then have the relocated squad go and sit on a EMS run ,gas leak or a...

    Vacuum Truck

Like already stated.…the TAC‘s are already busting at the seams. The hoses carried by the compressor unit are 8” LDH semi- hard flex hose and smaller 4” flex hose. Can’t be rolled up or stored flat or in a compartment. Not easily transported . Years ago there was a trench job on the north...

    Vacuum Truck

Hate to say it …but the idea of the SOC compressor is a little obsolete . All the rescues , collapse rigs , and squads 2nd piece have on board compressor’s.…either 180 or 200 CFM. The only thing the compressor unit Carrie’s that is unique is all the hose extensions and tubing that goes on the...

FDNY Aren't the Only Ones Who Use Nolan Carts

You really believe the Nolan chat came first. I’m sure it’s been a staple of the TA maintenance fleet for many many years …..way before Nolan but his name on a fire department modified version.

    Ok, thanks ….that makes sense.

    Rescue 4

That must have been fun driving with the “R” style cab and that huge front bumper …essentially in a very congested area like NYC.

    Special Units Relocating

That’s not in effect anymore ….they would send the next rescue on the “all hands doubtful” but now send them on the report of a 10-75 regardless.

    FDNY Chief Trucks

To close to Bn 35 & 37 and even the 28. On the west and south side it would open up a huge area between Bn 31 & 38.

How did the Collaspe Rescues come around?

R-3 didn’t become a dive rescue till about 2008.…give or take a year. They were the last Rescue company to be train ….R-4 was always assigned to dive jobs in the Bronx prior to then….on the Initial call, not as the back up dive team on the conformation of “diver in the water”.
