235, 111 and BC57 for a watch line? Looks like a little bit of gambling there that Bed-Stuy will be quiet.

FDNYs 2nd Sections, TCUs, and Tin House

My grandmother would go to Grand Army Plaza frequently and I would keep her company. We would often see Ladder 15 traveling out Flatbush Avenue and Eastern Parkway on their way to the quarters of 103 to become Ladder 193 for a few hours. I believe 15 was later replaced by Ladder 10 and this kept...

FDNYs 2nd Sections, TCUs, and Tin House

I rode with 132 truck from 1968 to 1975. During that time we relocated to Brownsville quite a bit, all three of the truck companies mentioned above, we even relocated to TCU 732 one night. It was an experience every time we went out there. The engines also did a lot of work as did Squad 4. You...

NYPD Strategic Response Groups still poised to be disbanded.

And then will he (the mayor) take responsibility when "it" hits the fan? Who or what will take the place of the SRG?

2025 All Hands Runs and Workers

Question regarding the Rescues, has SOC or FDNY admin reduced the number of boxes the Rescues respond to on the box/initial alarm? Using Rescue 2 as an example, in years past they responded to between 3000 and 4000 runs whereas in 2025 it was around 2200. If anything I thought the move to...

    110' rear mounts

Grumpy, The four 110ft rearmounts were: L-4 1989; L-165 1989; L-49 1990 and L-38 1990. They stayed in service at their assigned companies and the 110ft aerials were not replaced when time came for replacement. On a side note, I was told that the fourth 110ft rig was supposed to go to L-176 but...

    Firehouses - Bronx: E82 L31

RCL, You're right. I'm sure they parked on the apron as there was no room inside until 85 and 712 moved to the Bronx Tin House.

    Firehouses - Bronx: E82 L31

TCU712 was a rearmount (1961 Mack/Magirus with a retro-fitted Grove aerial) and don't forget the 27 Battalion. Yes, the building was amazing. I'm sure it had a character all of it's own.

    VINTAGE FDNY WAR YEAR LIDS

The unit symbol was painted on "back in the day" and I believe Squads were green when first organized and switched to yellow when the fireboats were designated "Marine Units" rather than "Engines" and given the green.
