Stuff happens. Im guessing 225 and 107 were elsewhere. Im more surprise/impressed this is the first brush fire in that area. It used to burn on a regular basis to the point of being able.to set your watch by it.

Unfortunately the only ones whom will win, will be the lawyers. Doubt they'll be too much change in anything that would matter or make a difference.

That's my understanding as well, even my dept does somwthing similar, but at the same time there probably is cases where theres a possibility of a rekindle or spots that simply can not be accessed for 1 reason or another so its building sat waiting for it to burn out or get to the point of being...

Not entirely sure but they could be stretching the term watchline for chain of custody reasons. There technically not turning the bldg over to the owners but not actively fighting fire, if that makes any sense.

There were 2 other 75s within 45 minutes of this call. 2092 and 9674. 151 was at 9674. So there was a lot of holes in Queens coverage 2092 was at 2pmish, 9674 at305 and this one about 315.

Years ago, there was accountability. I'll leave it at that.

    Engine 237 10-13

Apparently FDNY was staging equipment in Manhattan for the games. There was actually several 10-13 calls thru all 3 agencies last night. According to FireWire 237 was surrounded and couldn't respond and was being damaged and stripped. An EMS unit was surrounded and couldn't respond, and a NYPD...

The other reason I've heard, is that people normally associate blue lights with PD. So the theory is that a unit sitting on the side of the road with 1 or more blue lights, drivers will see that and think cop and slow down move over pay attention. In most cases. Key word. Most cases. Where...

    Blitz Nozzles

Just 1 thing to add is friction loss and pump pressures. The typical 2.5s can barely handle a blitzfire or ran. With FDNYs friction loss of 55 psi per 100 feet, at 200 feet your at 110 psi. Fl. Add in the nozzle, say stack tip which is 50 psi, and your already at 160 psi. Pp. And over most pumps...

I think the 3 inch we used was closer to 40 per 100. I dont remember off hand. I want to say it was like 37 per 100. I'd have to look and see if I still have the friction loss cards we had.

    Blitz Nozzles

I just looked. TFT make 3 different inlet sizes. 2.5, 3, 3.15. All with 2.5 outlets. Pretty much no matter what you do your limited to 500 gpms. Because thats what its designed for. The typical goto is 2.5. We used 3" with 2.5 couplings just for friction loss reasons. Our Elkhart RAN was also...

    5/8/26 Queens 2nd alarm Box 0945

I dont listen in but I have seen the arc fly on several occasions. At least according to the run downs on here. I'd guess and say maybe 1 out of 10 times. Drones have a more limited weather window, and also more restrictions then helicopters. So theres that consideration also.

Having them as a back up isn't a bad idea. When the drone is at another fire or delayed an arc can fill the gap.

I've seen the 39, as the ARC several times. Not sure what the criteria is for when the ARC assigned.
