The barge was off of Great Beds Light which is basically where the Raritan River, Raritan Bay and the Arthur Kill meet. between South Amboy, Perth Amboy and Staten Island.....FDNY assistance was requested when Perth Amboy Marine 5 had mechanical issues.....
Numbers game....straight up.....90-95% of incidents are mitigated by the HMTU Engine or Squad Company. It was brought up numerous times over the years to allow HMTU's to operate independently and HM Ops always said no.....
Within a roughly 1/2 mile radius of the intersection of Clove and Victory you can have 5 different engines and 4 different trucks 1st due to boxes and not be on 1st alarm 3 blocks away. Just the nature of the geography and responses around there.
There have been several incidents over the last few years where buffs and members on the job have posted things in real time on social media sites, group me app and other places about injured members, maydays and other sensitive information on incidents and evolving incidents that were taken...

There has been little to no official info on this rigs intended use, function or responses or location....anything you see here is pure speculation and internet folklore......

The new standards from NFPA or whoever dictate that PPE needs to be stored separate from passenger compartment unless a rather cost prohibitive filtration system is installed in command and 1st response vehicles hence the reason for capped pickups and Sq51 type vehicles.
