Anyone know the reason for 4-door cabs? Are they planning that if needed these could be stand alone units and not always be used with the parent company?

I understand that. My post was for clarity as almost everywhere else counts the officer so I was just commenting for some who might not be familiar that FDNY does not count the officer. An FDNY 4-person engine is a 5-person engine everywhere else.

AFAIK the “5” man engine companies only refers to firefighters and not the officer. So the companies are going from 6 on the rig to 5 on the rig. Not 5 to 4. Just for clarity

I think I remember reading on here or somewhere else that they wanted to keep 154 for the possible re-establishment of Engine 154

I think all SOC companies have this gear.
