    In the FDNY if a mayday gets called does the alarm get upgraded? With the Chicago fire department it does, for example if a mayday gets called at a working fire response the alarm is up graded to a still and box. If it's at a still and box the alarm is upgraded to a 2-11.

    For car fires on expressways, CFD sends two engines with one staying off to get a hydrant if needed. I would imagine FDNY does something similar?

    Can the FDNY fire alarm offices automatically upgrade the initial call for a fire (called a still alarm in Chicago) to a working fire response if multiple callers are reporting a fire at the same address? CFD and several suburban Chicago dispatch centers do this.

    An interesting story from one of the security guards at work who is retired CPD. Once when he was working a fire scene and had the road blocked with his squad car, a TV news truck drove around him and over a charged hose line. The news crew was ticketed and got royally chewed out by his SGT.
