Correct it was not in Bed Stuy & certainly was a very hot box for both Fires & 92s (all 4 corners & surrounding blocks destroyed & now rebuilt) .....the original 1644 was a Cast Iron model but was later replaced with a newer metal post & box which as of more recent times the side panels were ripped off & the wiring exposed....not sure if it even still worked...as of a week & a half ago when i was there the box was GONE completely & the spot where it stood had a newer irregular cement patch there ?.....i wonder if the new R*2 FH will have the mandatory sign on the door "If Company is out of quarters Report Fire at alarm Box Located on XXXX & XXXX" ?MT8410 said:I didn't know 1644 box, the new home box for R2, was in Bed-Sty? Must have moved it from Brownsville. Always one of the hottest boxes from the 1960's thru the 1980's for Watkins Street.
