Note: Boat involved is reportedly the Andrew J. Barberi, which was also the boat involved in the 2003 crash.

That boat is cursed! Back in the late 90's was nicknamed the "Roach Motel" because giant cockroaches were running around in it, then in Oct. 2003 it crashed with fatalities and now another crash which sounds like some sort of mechanical/power loss issue.

Time to turn the Barberi into scrap. How is that one, along with the new boats have endless problems, yet the oldest boat, the Kennedy is holding up like a warhorse?

I guess the Kennedy will be getting some more use now and is about 45 years old.

Also, from scene pictures here: http://photos.silive.com/4499/gallery/staten_island_ferry_crash_may_8_2010/index.html it appears that both MERV 1 and MERV 5 responded. Ambulances came from all over including Brooklyn.
