A RE-POST FROM BROTHER "MORE FOR LESS" ON ANOTHER SITE.....QUOTE.....Today we remember Lt Howard Carpluk Jr E-42 & FF Michael Reilly E-75 who died in the line of duty while operating at Bronx 3rd Alarm 66-33-2797 on August 27, 2006. At 1230hrs, the Bronx CO recieved a telephone alarm reporting a fire in a store at 1575 Walton Ave. E-42 arrived at 1233hrs and transmitted 10-75 for heavy smoke from the 99cent store. The building was a 1 story non-fireproof commercial building 45ft wide by 65ft deep. Fire originated 1st floor rear and quickly spread into the ceiling. Due to fire conditions a 2nd alarm was quickly transmitted. A V-shaped collapse of the 1st floor occured 21 minutes after the arrival of E-42. The collapse took place with out warning, plunging members into the collapse area. The 1st floor collapse was a result of a cellar column failure. 3rd Alarm was now transmitted. 10 members fell into the collapse area. 4 members of E-92 were immediately removed by the FAST truck. 6 members remained trapped. TL-44 Can was removed with in 4 minutes, E-75 Back-Up was removed in 43 minutes, TL-44 Officer was removed in 56 minutes, Bn-17 Chief removed in aprox 1 hour, Lt.Carpluk was removed 1 hour 21 minutes and FF Reilly was removed 1 hour 41 minutes......UNQUOTE .......CONTINUED REST IN PEACE TO BOTH BROTHERS ...NEVER FORGET !
