Two of the FDNYs Bravest who worked very hard to become New York City Firefighters just like the other 9,000 or so did. One who even paid FOUR Times out of his own pocket to fly from the State of Washington to NYC in order to become a NYC Firefighter.

These two gentlemen hit the nail right on the head. If you want something...work for it. It's more enjoyable and rewarding than having it handed to you. But, that's just my old fashioned up bringing speaking.

Agreed! Throughout the years "minority" applicants with that "old fashioned" upbringing wanted to become NYC firefighters. They studied, worked hard, stayed out of trouble and earned their jobs. Unfortunately, there are a few loud, half-empty barrels of fully digested Bovine livestock feed claiming to represent "all" members of their ethnic group, stirring the pot and ruining it for everyone including their own. ;)
