I know this has nothing to do with NYC or FDNY. I been a medic now for 13 years and had another "First" I was working in Fairview,TN last night http://www.fairview-tn.org/fire.htm, Was dispatched to a Car vs Cow MVA. Was amazing! Figured would share a rural EMS story from a EX NYC Medic
upon arrival found a large F359 pick up truck with severe front end damage and blood and cow parts along the drivers side. Driver was ambulatory at scene. Passenger, his wife was PINNED!! From the dashboard on her legs. I was thinking and amazed all this damage from a cow.
I walked over to the cow that was in the ditch, was still alive and looking at me. Felt horrible for it. Its rear end was completely missing, all the innards were hanging out and its lower rear legs were in the road. It was actually tough for me. Went back to the patient and FD used the rams to remove the female, who sustained hip and right knee injuries. Was transported by the BLS unit. The Sheriffs were on scene
http://www.williamsoncounty-tn.gov/index.aspx?NID=19  and fired a 9mm round to its head, and it didn't KILL it. Was a shame, Sgt showed up and had to use the 12gauge shotgun and ocourse that worked. You all can imagine what was left at the head. I later, after every one made fun of me,being from NYC never had a cow accident. It was a BULL weight 1500 Pd's, my mouth drooped. It was a "good" job and sad at the same time. I know its not NYC but shared a story just for entertainment.
